Governors

What is a school governing body?

The governing body is made up from representatives from the community, parents, Local Education Authority, and school staff – its role is to promote school improvement through keeping track of standards and much of the management and financial organisation of the school.

Who are the governors at Sopley School?

Our governors come from a variety of backgrounds and between them have a wide range of skills and experience. All are committed volunteers with a passion for improving opportunities and outcomes for children.

Governors at Sopley give extra time to get involved in the life of the school – this helps them to get to know the school well.  They do this through activities such as helping out with school trips, hearing children read, school council, pupil interviews, projects, class activities and events.

We aim to be approachable and are always pleased to hear your feedback about the school. A number of us are parents and you will see one or more of us in the playground on most days.
